About Safe-Shield
I’m Tim Kohl, detailer and founder of Safe-Shield. What began with an old Golf and a basic polishing machine has grown into an owner-led professional car care brand.
Tim Kohl · Founder & detailer

At 15, I bought a faded red Golf Mk2 from a neighbour with my pocket money. I wanted to restore its appearance and sell it on. A basic DIY-store polishing machine, an inexpensive polish and plenty of curiosity were my starting point.
At 16, I began an apprenticeship as an automotive mechatronics technician. Vehicle technology filled my days, and detailing increasingly became my passion. Through a chemist, I discovered coatings. In 2014, I applied my first ceramic coating – to cars, a boat and a motorhome.
Other detailers wanted to try the products. At first, I often gave them away for free. Their feedback, recommendations and requests helped me learn and move development forward.
Work with ceramic coatings and our first own polishes grew into Safe-Shield. Developed alongside detailing, with experienced chemists. I taught myself graphic design, accounting, web design and the practicalities of selling products. My passion gradually grew into an e-commerce business.
Our requirements come from hands-on detailing. Technical expertise turns them into products for everyday work.
Application, handling and results guide our development. We know the tasks our products are used for.
Our partners for chemistry, development and manufacturing are based in Germany. Together with experienced chemists, we continue to develop our products.
Today, we’re a team of four, supported by freelancers. As the owner, I remain active in detailing and in conversations with our customers.

Feedback from other detailers has shaped Safe-Shield from the start. Today, professionals across Germany, Austria and Switzerland and dedicated enthusiasts use our products. That personal exchange remains part of our work.
From polishing to regular care: discover the right products and the guides that go with them.
Have a question about our products or work as a professional detailer? We’d be happy to hear from you.
