A ceramic coating is an ultra-thin, transparent protective layer that bonds permanently with your vehicle’s paint. It’s made of inorganic compounds (e.g., silicon or titanium compounds) and provides long-term protection against UV rays, chemicals, bird droppings, insect residue, and micro-scratches.

Typical durability of a ceramic coating

The durability of a ceramic coating is generally between 2 and 5 years. With correct application and especially good care, protection can even last up to 7 years. The most important factors are:

• the quality of the product,
• Thorough paint preparation (polishing, degreasing),
• proper application,
• where the vehicle is kept (garage or outdoors),
• and proper care after the coating.

Impact of care and usage

How long the protection actually lasts depends heavily on how the vehicle is used. Cars that are regularly washed, maintained, and protected from environmental influences retain the effect much longer than those that are rarely cared for, frequently run through car washes with aggressive chemicals, or are left outside all the time.

If you want to enjoy your coating for a long time, use pH-neutral shampoos for regular washing and a gentle washing method. This keeps the water-beading effect going strong and protects the paint in the long run.

In most cases, a professional application can be worthwhile. Professionals prepare the paint perfectly, apply the coating under optimal conditions, and thus ensure maximum durability.
